Artificial Respiration (SPS3)

Everytime I try to be positive I get disheartened rather quickly... This is the Third Saturday Poem Society Post. Not much to say today.

II.Artificial Respiration

31-Mar 23:34

II.Artificial Respiration
31-Mar 23:34

This rain;nothing
but water against
bruised skin.
I'd usually run,
but there's
nowhere to hide in
this fucked up,
sugar-struck world.
I'm just waiting
for my demise.
The end is so
fucking near I can
taste it.
In the rain. In the
anguish. In my
mouth.
It eats away at
me like acid,
seeping to my
brain.
Fuck up my
senses. I wanna
hear what I can
taste. Bring the
crashes to my
throat, let me
swallow them
whole.
I want to know
what it's like to
touch what I can't
see.
Artificial respiration...
I drowned for a
fucking reason,
I never wanted you
to keep me alive...

Middle Cyclone (FS9)

I am longing for your touch as much as you are longing for mine.

But the truth is, we never even brush each other, we are too far away, no matter how close.

And we'll always be. That is why you cherish it so.

Today's(Friday's) Featured Song is

Neko Case-Middle Cyclone
Background Info:

Neko Case, born September 8, 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia, is an American singer-songwriter, best known for her solo career and her contributions as a member of the Canadian indie rock group The New Pornographers.

Case recorded and toured for several years as Neko Case & Her Boyfriends before performing solely under her name. She primarily performs her own material, but also performs and has recorded cover versions of songs by artists such as Harry Nilsson, Loretta Lynn, Tom Waits, Nick Lowe, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Scott Walker, Randy Newman, Queen, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Hank Williams. She frequently infuses humorous narratives into her live sets.

Lyrics:

(spoken) Okay we're rolling
One two three, two two three

Baby why'm I worried now
Did someone make a fool of me
'fore I could show 'em how it's done
Na na na na na
Na na na

I can't give up actin' tough
It's all that I'm made of
Can't scrape together quite enough
To ride the bus to the outskirts of the fact that I need love

There were times that I tried
One for every glass of water that I spill
Next to the bed retching pennies in a boiling well
In a dream that at once becomes a foundry
Of mute and heavy bells
They shake me deaf and dumb
Say someone made a fool of me
'fore I could show 'em how it's done

It was so clear to me
That it was almost invisible
"I lie 'cross the path waiting
Just for a chance to be
A spider web trapped in your lashes
For that I would trade you my empire for ashes
But I choke it back
How much I need love
Na na na na na
Na na na

My Interpretation:

This is about a girl who is in love, but she can't express it for whatever reason. She can't say anything and she obviously can't stop being in love, (not that she has not tried already)therefore, she feels stupid, helpless and, worst of all, she blames herself for her unbalanced anxiety state, since she ushers herself to keep quiet.
"I lie 'cross the path waiting/Just for a chance to be/A spider web trapped in your lashes" how romantic and depressing is that?

To Die For (FS9)

I wish this feeling of loneliness and alienation would just go away for once. I cannot relate to anybody. Nothing amuses me, nothing scares me, nothing cheers me up. I keep being attacked by this memories of the past years, and I wish with all my might that I could go back.

I guess I was not the only one who noticed how charming he is. He was with a girl.I don't know who, a younger girl.

Why not me?
What is wrong with me? someone tell me already.

Today's(yesterday's) Featured Song is:

The Birthday Massacre-To Die For

Background Info:

The group originated in London, Ontario under the name Imagica, taken from a novel by the author Clive Barker. The group's original line-up formed when childhood friends Rainbow (guitars and programming) and M. Falcore (guitars) met Chibi (vocals) and Aslan (bass) in college. In mid 2000, Dank, a long time friend of Chibi's, joined to play live keyboards. After months of rehearsals and writing songs, they played their first gig on October 28, 2000 at Diversity night club in London. The band released a seven-song limited edition demo CD at the show. There were 40 hand numbered copies of the demo which included the first recorded version of the song "The Birthday Massacre" (later renamed "Happy Birthday"). The following month, in answering an ad posted at the college, O.E. was added to play live drums. During this time, the band also met Rhim and Owen at the same college who would later join as drummer and keyboardist, respectively. Their music style has been described as gothic synth rock.

Lyrics:

Tighten your tie boy
You're something to die for
But don't hold your breath now
You're just killing time
Tonight you can dream boy
Imagine a whisper
If you can keep secrets
Then I'll tell you mine.

Remember a promise you couldn't hold on to
Though it brings me to tears now i need you to know
Look in my eyes boy
Nothing like yours now
It seems that a lifetime
Is passing us by.

So open your eyes..

This is forever but it won't last long
This is a memory that fades away in neverending
In the death of all that's long been said and done before,
We'll wish that we were something more.

Stop wasting time boy
You're late all your life boy
They won't have the patience
For someone like you
Your memory's fading
I'll love you forever
I'll try to remember
I'll try to hold on

You're standing alone boy
Waiting for dreams boy
Waiting for something
To make them come true
Don't ever leave boy
I'd miss you too much boy
I'll never forget you
As long as I'm here

My Interpretation:
She is talking to herself, mad with grief because the one she would die for is not there to listen and
has never been. She has sort of stranded in time, forever the same, while he has changed so much it's hard to recognize him at all anymore. Trying to hold on is almost never enough.
