A girl who lives

on silly things,

on distant smiles

and chilly springs.

Who checks that no one

hears her sing

and keeps her secrets

in a tin.

Whose sense of humour

is so bleak

it never belongs

in any clique.

Who dreams about

falling in love,

but when she is asked about it, says

"wouldn't buy it for a sov"

Who thinks it is best to forget

but bears reminders on her skin

and only hears in the falling rain

echoes of Remorse and Sin.

Just a girl whose hardest judge

is, bar none, her inner self,

and whose most loyal friends

are dusty books upon a shelf.

And that is all there is to know

Of this strange girl so full of woe.
